Seed Ball activity - Orientation Program Batch 2023-25

Brief report on Seed Ball activity conducted on 02/08/2023 as a part of orientation program to the 2023-25 batch students.

MS Ramaiah Institute of Management in collaboration with 'Halu Thene' farms, had organized seed ball making activity on 02/08/2023 as a part of orientation program to the 2023-25 batch students. 200 students of our PGDBM program, along with faculty members, made fifteen thousand seed balls containing Custard Apple, Bela, Bamboo Jamoon and Hibiscus seeds at 'Haalu Tene' farm situated at Mallapur in Nelamangala taluk.

Renowned science writer and environmentalist Prof. Nagesh Hegde, who was the chief guest of the program, explained to the students about the ill effects of human oppression on the environment and emphasized the importance of environmental protection and the need to preserve and hand over mother earth and the environment intact  to our future generations as we have borrowed it from them.

Dr. Manasa Nagabhushan, Director of MS Ramaiah Institute of Management, in her address to the students explained the importance of getting connected to the environment and giving back our bit to the mother earth.

This program was organized with the intention that the management students should learn not only about financial affairs and personal prosperity, but also develop concern for the environment, concern and responsibility towards the downtrodden in the society. After ten days, the students will throw these seed balls in the surrounding forest and barren land. Being a part of this afforestation drive gave them a sense of satisfaction and also built strong ties with the environment. Sitting on the ground amidst of the nature and making seed balls with their hands literally on soil was a new experience for the students who grew up in a protected environment in the urban area.

Academic Head Dr. Bhanumathi P. and Economics faculty Dr. Sanjyothi V.K.  who planned and executed the seed ball activity were present along with Mr. Lingesh of Kavyakavana, and Mr. Narendra Babu of 'Haalu Tene Farm’.
