About The Faculty

Dr. Swati Basu Ghose is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing and IB She holds a PhD from VTU, an MBA (1st Class) from IGNOU, and a MCom (1st Class) from University of Calcutta. She has more than 25 years of teaching, research and industry experience. At present she is Head – Kathanweshan - RIM Case Center and was HoD- Department of Marketing & IB at the Ramaiah Institute of Management (RIM), Bangalore. She joined RIM in 2008. Before joining RIM, she has held faculty positions for MBA programs in NIILM, ISME and IBMR. She has also worked as a Research Assistant at the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA. Dr. Basu Ghose has visited and interacted with members of faculty in Leicester Business School and Exeter Business School in UK, Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and Harvard Business School in the USA. She has presented and published her research papers in twenty international conferences, published ten research papers in international management journals, reviewed two books, brought out the first issue of MS Ramaiah Management Review, edited three management journals, developed and published case studies, chaired a session in IIM-Calcutta Conference and reviewed research paper for VGSOM-IIT KGP, RIM-MarCon and ICEFB-VJIM, HYD conferences. She has presented her papers in Vinod Gupta School of Management at IIT Kharagpur, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, and IIM Calcutta. She has received best paper presentation award in an international conference ICCAMIEI-2K21, International Conference on "Advancing Management: Innovation, Engagement and Impact in the post COVID era" organized by KIET School of Management in Association with Southwestern Oklahoma State University for her paper on Analysis of Retail Consumer Behaviour towards online shopping during post-Covid.  She has attended NABC Business Forum in Santa Clara, USA. Dr. Basu Ghose has delivered invited talks in various webinars, moderated panel discussions on contemporary topics, played a role as external moderator and evaluator for post graduate management examinations and empirical projects in RIT and RUAS, Bangalore, and led an international conference on digital marketing. Business (ICEFB), VJIM, HYD, April 2023. In May 2023, she Delivered a talk as a guest faculty    for post graduate students of Polytechnic of Viseu - Portugal, School of Education, Department of Communication and Art on Merchandising. She was a researcher in a global consultancy project of f1rst Market Research Company which is a sister concern of   GIRACT, which aims to understand end- user perceptions of the use of maltodextrin and dry glucose syrup in food applications to arrive at the current and potential forecast demand. Her current   areas   of   interest are in Retail Management, Consumer   Behavior, FMCG Sector, Housing Finance, Bottom of the Economic Pyramid and Integrated Marketing Communications and Leadership. She has been listed as an approved research supervisor for the research program of Ramaiah University of Applied Science.

Educational Qualification 

Dr. Swati Basu Ghose is an MCom (Finance) from Calcutta University , MBA (Marketing) from IGNOU and PhD from VTU.

Awards and Recognitions 

Dr. Basu Ghose has received Certificate of Appreciation from International School of Management Excellence in 2016 for her tireless efforts and valuable role in building the institution and has been awarded in “PhireyEso Kolkata” contest by Times of India in 2019. She has been awarded Certificate of Honourin the Finance Workshop conducted by the Chief Executive Forum with faculties from Harvard University and Indian Institute of Planning and Management, Le Meridien Hotel, Bangalore, January 2005. Awarded a certificate for completing the course on Counselling Skills conducted by the Banjara Academy, Bangalore, July 2005
