Case Study Center – Kathanweshan

(Established in 2023)

 

Case method teaching is an active form of instruction that focuses on a case and involves students learning by doing. Case teaching simulates real-world situations and asks students to actively discuss complex problems. Primarily, this pedagogy is being used in business schools to stimulate the students’ critical thinking abilities, problem-solving skills and decision-making skills. Management cases also expose students to a variety of organizations and managerial situations and help them learn to ask relevant good questions and get the right solutions before solving the problems

Objectives:

  • To create an environment wherein faculty members are motivated to use as case as a primary teaching pedagogy in the classroom.
  • To motivate faculty members to be authors of cases in their respective domains, which can be used in the classroom for teaching.
  • To motivate students to write cases with faculty members as per their interests.
  • To motivate faculty members to publish cases in world-class repositories like Harvard, Ivey, Case centre, Sage, ET cases etc.

 Activities:

1. Organised Inaugural Programme on 15th March, 2023, Dr. Anjula Pandey (Chief Guest ) – Head – AIMA Case Centre, Delhi.

2.  Tied-up with case repository Emerging Markets Case studies (Emerald Publishing) for teaching.

3. .Organised an interactive session on usage of Emerging Markets Case Studies
for faculties on 22nd  June, 2023 by S Vinay Kumar from Emerald Publishing.

4. Faculty Development Programme on ‘Case Study Publication’ on 16th August, 2023 by Ms. Sangeeta Menon- Regional Publishing Manager at Emerald Publishing for India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, and Bhutan.

5.  Faculty Development Programme on ‘Case Study for Qualitative Research’ on 6th December, 2023 by Prof. Roy Chowdhury, Visiting Professor at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore. Earlier she taught at the ISEC, Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad, and worked as Deputy Editor, The Hindu. 

Outcomes:

Poojaa N (Student- PGDM1st Year (23-25)-Ramaiah Institute of Management, Bangalore participated  in case study competition CMCD-2023

Faculty Members developed case studies for teaching and presentation in conference.

Case study presented in conference by faculty member received recognition as best case study and selected for publication.
